Symposium of the S AM Schweizerisches Architekturmuseum Basel in cooperation with Culturescapes

 

The symposium serves as a conceptual bridge between the S AM exhibition ‘Balkanology’ and Culturescapes 2008 ‘Turkey’. Representatives of individual urban initiatives and urban experts discuss informal building and unregulated urban planning such as the Turkish ‘Gecekondu’ and similar urban phenomena in South Eastern Europe.

Prof. Dirk Baecker, teaching at the Zeppelin University in Friedrichshafen, discusses his theories on the topic of migration as a significant and substantial part of Europe’s unified diversity and in its possible role as a potential model with regard to current global society.

 

Dirk Baecker teaches Cultural Theory and Analysis at the Zeppelin University in Friedrichshafen at the Lake of Constance and lives in Basel.
