Şahika Tekand / Studio Oyuncuları, Istanbul
In her interpretations of the Antigone theme Şahika Tekand, the artistic director of the Istanbul theatre group Studio Oyuncuları, is particularly interested in the concepts of the rights of others, of freedom of expression, belief and opinion as well as in the just exercise of the law. The performance shows, very impressively, how this ancient drama, about the irreconcilability of reasons of state and divine right, can still develop an incredible pull on us today.
